It’s just a short journey, a walk, my feet carry me thus and I observe the details along the way.
Then I stop, to take in the wider view for that bit longer.
A car goes by, the driver’s silhouette glides by, a back seat passenger is turned looking out the far window,
it’s as if it’s some form of aberration, a flicker and fleeting thing, there and now gone.
There are details in the textures, the patinas and the softer surfaces as I glance about,
the contrast intrigues, soft grass against concrete.
Another car eases by, its metallic blue catches a sharp shaft of light creating a vibrant flash.
Another silhouette, another person going who knows where.
I move on, my intrigue with the view has changed, a slight breeze acts as the punctuation, a full stop, and then I start again.
A casual walk in the fading light, an afternoon turning to night.
The door handle pivots, the door squeaks, I’m home in a place where things are sweet, warm and all is at ease.

Hold me close, feel my warmth, adjust your posture for I am here again.
One, two, three, oh some more of that long embrace, but you tend to let it go and it’s like a fall from grace.
I like the embrace, the touch, the texture of your clothes, the sense of movement as your hand glides across my shoulder.
We say hi, our smiles quite wide, we want to say more, but others arrive.
We stand side by side, greet the others in tow, one, two, three, oh fiddly dee.
The time passes slowly and then picks up speed, our chatter quite broad, some stories intrigue.
Then there’s the goodbye, another hug or a hold, we’re filled with cheer and end with a humorous jibe.
